The Daily News lobbyist states Mr. Lloyd George has invited representatives of the Southern Unionists to attend Monday’s conference, which can be taken to indicate that a settlement is practically assured. A well-informed Dublin special correspondent of the Daily News says he is satisfied that necessity justified Mr. Collins’ coalition with Mr. de Valera. The former found he could not carry the election decree through the Dail, where defeat would have more gravely affected the treaty than the coalition would. Mr. de Valera, it is now believed, is preparing the way for the qualified acceptance of both the treaty and the constitution in order that his followers may accept office under the first Free State Parliament. The coalition pact has been Mr. de Valera’s death-blow with the left wing.'
