THE DAIRY POOL.
THE SOUTH ISLAND’S ACTION. A REPLY TO MR. BRASH By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. “The statement by Mr. T. C. Brash that the producers did not have an opportunity of hearing the proposals properly explained is quite conti*ary to fact,” states Mr. C. P. Agar, a member of the special committee appointed by the South Island Dairy Association to report on the proposed. Dominion pool. “Factories were convened to a special meeting at Dunedin, and a meeting was held in Invercargill, and a day was given to discussion of the pool at Christchurch. Nothing new was submitted after the first meeting. “One would conclude from , Mr. Brash’s remarks that the second report was not criticised by the North Island delegation, whereas Mr. Goodfellow went through the report immediaiely it was presented, clause by clause. The voting for submitting the whole thing back to the various directorates was not voting done in accordance with instructions, as Mr. Brash infers, yet this Wils defeated by a two to one majority, and when the pool proposal was put to the meeting there were only four votes in support of same. To suggest insincerity in the No. 2 report of the special committee only tends to admit the annoyance of those who profess to know all about the pool scheme and what the Tooley Street merchants will do regarding financing same. The committee, unlike the promoters of the pool, had not been in touch with London merchants, except to get information as regards the Danish system of marketing.”
