HAMILTON BURGLARY.

ACCUSED REMANDED. DETECTIVE’S CONDITION SERIOUS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, June 10. Detective Lambert, who was shot •while arresting Crossan for burglary, spent a comfortable night, and appeared quite bright this morning. He is still in a serious condition, however. The statement made by Lambert after admission to the hospital showed that when Jury remarked that the revolver was not loaded after it failed to discharge on the first occasion, when pointed in the driver’s direction, Crossan fired ; a shot into the ground. The detective j said two or three times: “Don’t be silly,” i and Crossan replied: “I'm desperate. l! don’t want to live.” He ordered the de- ' tective to stand off. By this time the! detective had reached within a yard and made an effort to spring at Crossan and j get the revolver. He managed to get I hold of the barrel, but Crossan wrenched I the weapon away. Lambert made another I attempt to grapple with Crossan, who shot him in the stomach.

Crossan appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Six charges were preferred against him, one of attempted murder, one of being in possession of a revolver, one of presenting a revolver at Leo Jury, and three of breaking and entering. Accused was remanded for a week.
