Orders for papers may also be left with him. THE PLUNKET SOCIETY. June 9. The monthly meeting of-the committee of the Stratford Plunket Society was held on Wednesday. Messrs. Harry Masters, S. Ward and T. Aylward were appointed a committee in connection with the chrysanthemum show to be held in May next. It was decided to hold a children’s fancy dress dance in aid of the society’s funds in the Drill Hall on Saturday, July 1, and Mesdames Rutherfurd, Malone, McMillan, and Curtis were appointed a dance committee. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. Rutherfurd for the free use of the Parish Hall for the monthly meetings, Mr. Alger for the sale of flowers, Mr. Evans for naw blinds for the Plunket Rooms, and Mr. McWhirter for painting the name on the Plunket building. The following were added to the membership list: Mesdames Richards, Hill, Macaiister, Mark, Wheller, Don Smith, Evans, Huston, Jones, Garrard, George Hall, Burmester, Mills, Ryan and Mr. Lloyd. A meeting of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Friesian Association was held at Stratford on Tuesday to arrange for a series of demonstrations to be given by Mr. Geo. Aitchison, the hon. official demonstrator to the Association. The first demonstration will be held on Mr. G. A. Murchant and Sons’ farm at Cardiff on Wednesday next, the second on Mr. Marx’s farm at Mangatoki. LAMASON’S MART. There was a large attendance at our last sale, all lines offering meeting with keen competition. There is still a very good demand for poultry and general lines. Quotations are as follows; Ducks 3® Gd to
4s Id, hens 2s to 3s, pullets 4s 6d to Bs, geese 3s 6d to 4s, cockerels Is 3d to 2s, wheat 20s per sack, pollard 235, apples 2s 6d to 10s according to quality, cow chaff 2s 6d per sack, pumpkins 8s 6d per sack, potatoes, chaff, onions and other produce at market rates.
Attention is drawn to an advertisement, appearing elsewhere in this issue, of Lamason’s weekly sale to-morrow (Saturday). Something special is offered in the sale of meat at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and a very large variety of poultry, produce, and sundry articles will also be offered at the ordinary sale at 1 o'clock. Specially good lines in drapery are offered this week at Walters Limited, and attention is called to particulars advertised elsewhere.
