THE DAVIS CUP.
AUSTRALIANS AT PRACTICE. PREPARING TO MEET BELGIUM. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 9, 5.5 p.un. London, June 8. The Australian Davis Cup team played an exhibition match to-day in dull, drizzly weather, Patterson and Wertheim beating Anderson and "Wood 5—7, 6 —2, 6—4, 6—4. The players were never fully extended. Patterson was easily the most effective and consistent, his service being practically unretumable. Anderson has not reached top form. 'Wertheim was the most irregular of the four, but played the best game since his arrival, including a number of brilliant half volleys. The team goes to Scarborough for a few days before meeting Belgium. It has been arranged that the Australians will play Belgium at Scarborough on Jflne 22, 23 and 24.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
