DOMINION WINTER SHOW

HAWERA. ENTRIES CLOSE ON SATURDAY, JUNE 17. One of the most interesting and instructive sections in the Dominion Show is that devoted to the farm and gardening. This comprises garden vegetables, field roots, school farm produce (boys’ and girls’ club schedule), and honey. Many good special prizes are donated to all classes, and this should encourage numerous entries. Particularly interesting is the section for boys’ and girls’ clubs. This includes best three roots in mangolds and carrots from the plots in various districts as follows: —Group 1, being schools at Ohangai, Ararata, Tawhiti, and Mokoia; group 2, being schools at Okaiawa, Tokaora, Matapu, and Mangatoki; group 3, being schools at Oeo, Otakeho, Pihama, Manaia, and Auroa; group 4, being schools at Kaponga, Kapuni, and Riverina; group 5, being schools at Ngaere. Rawhitiroa, and Te Roti. There will be a championship prize of £2 2s for class.es in mangolds and in carrots. To encourage the keeping of records by the boys and girls prizes are given for records of crops and calf rearing. The show committee have always made a feature of work done by schools, and fully expect the entries received will encourage them to continue and increase the fostering of there club competitions. Entries will close cn Saturday, June 17, with the secretary, P.O. Box 79, Hawera.
