REPARATIONS.
HITCH IN DISCUSSION. QUESTION OF LOAN. BANKERS CAUTIOUS. ) By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 7, 5.5 p.m. Paris, June 6. The calming European waters are again troubled by the announcement of the postponement of to-day’s meeting of the Reparations Commission to discuss a reduction of the German indemnity. Behind the postponement there is believed to be a deadlock between the international bankers’ committee and the Allied Governments on the subject of granting a loan to Germany, on which Germany’s recently promised reforms were made conditional. The bankers evince a disinclination to father such a large loan while the present high figure of reparations prejudices the chances of its repayment, and France, as the largest beneficiary from reparations, will not consent to a reduction of her claims without corresponding advantages. —Aus.-N.Z.
