LOWER SALARIES.

FURTHER “CUT” OPPOSED. Opposition is growing to the proposed second “cut” in salaries in the Public Service under the Expenditure Adjustment Bill, and protests have been made by the officers concerned in various parts of the Dominion. Last night a representative gathering was held in New Plymouth and was attended by representatives of the two railwaymen’s societies, the P. and T. Association and the Civil Servants’ Association. It was decided to join forces in opposing any further “cut” in salaries, and a committee was appointed to arrange for a big protest meeting at a later date.
