BOXING.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night, when there were present: Messrs. Jas. Garcia (in the chair), M. Stagpoole, A. Baker, C. Grainger, W. Whitaker, W. Richards, W. Yardley, N. B. Howell, W. N. Stephens and C. H. Wynyard (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs. W. Graham, G. E. Jago, R. Paul, R. Barlow and F. J. Eggleton. A resolution was passed expressing sympathy with the chairman of the association (Mr. E. Jackson), and expressing the hope tliat he would soon recover from his injuries sustained in the recent accident. It was stated that the four professionals engaged in the tournament had signed the articles and were in active training, so that two good bouts could be expected on Thursday and Saturday, June 15 and 17. The Match Committee reported that good entries had been received for the Territorial and Senior Cadet bouts. It was decided to contest the heats of these on . the first night and the finals, as well as five special amateur bouts, on the Saturday, as preliminaries to the Heeney-Whitaker bout. It was also decided that the amateur bouts should all consist of four two-minute rounds, and they were drawn up as follow: — First Night.—Bantams (first round) : K. Dudding v. Harris, R. Cantell v. Marshall, Chas. Anderson v. Bell. Feather-weight (first round) : Gibson v. O’Rorke, E. Cudding v. McWhirter, G. Dudding a bye. Lightweight : E. Charles v. T. Rooke. Middleweight (first round) : H. McAsay v. Land, Whiting v. Lawry, E. Webber a bye. Second Night.—Special Bouts: Bantam, A. Collins v. D. Childs; feather-weight, W. G. Coombe v. Coates; welter-weight, McMillan v. N. Cleary; Graham v. Smith. Heavy-weight, McGuire v. Mills. The various sub-committees reported that matters were well in train, and there is every indication of a very succesful tournament, as interest in the bouts is increasing throughout the province. Several new members were elected. It was decided that members’ tickets of admittance to the tournament would not be Issued unless subscriptions were paid prior to Tuesday, June 13th. •DOPING ALLEGED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, June 5. The manager for the boxer Criqui says that Criqui was taken ill after a luncheon party the day before the recent fight. He alleges that someone doped Criqui, hence the length of the fight against Fox.
