In the Middlesex doubles, Lowe and Myeraj beat XWrtheim and Taylor, 6—3, I—C, 6—3 ; Wertheim lias not. reached his best form. Barclay and Ritchie beat Sherwell and his partner, 6 —4, 2—2 (retired). Lycett and Anderson beat Ingram, and fiwinden, G—4, 6—2. In the fourth round, Barclay and Ritchie beat Lowe and Myers, 7—5, 14—12. This was the day's most exciting match. Barclay showed out the best of the four players. L had been taken for granted by the Press for some ttme that Barclay intended playing in the Indian Davis Cup team. "He has now definitely refused nomination in that connection, and some critics suggest that the British selectors may now pay attention to him. Received June 4, 5.5 p.m. London, June 2. Final: Lycett beat Gilbert, 6—2, 6—2, 6—2. Ladies’ Singles.—Mrs. Peacock beat Mrs. Beamish, 6—l, I—6, 6— 2. Received June 4, 11.5 p.m. London, June 3. Further Middlesex results are: Final of the ladles’ doubles: Mrs. Lambert chambers and Miss Ryan beat Mrs. Beamish and Mrs. Peacock, 6—2, s—l. Lycett and Miss Ryan beat Gilbert and Mrs. Peacock, 7—5, 6 —l. Horn, the Cambridge captain, played a great game against Patterson. The latter won, 2—6, 6—2, 11—9. THE DAVIS CUP.
