The opening of the Taranaki Agricultural Socieyt’s Winter Show on Wednesday next should he of special interest to both town and country people. These annual exhibitions are always attractive, and, being held in a large covered building like the Coronation Hall, are not adversely affected by the uncertain weather of this season of the year. Not only is there an educational value in these varied exhibitions, but they form a common meeting ground where the naonle of the district t,i.

der circumstances which should do much to foster that community of interest that greatly helps towards progress and prosperity. The poultry section is always an attractive feature, and each year witnesses an ever increasing improvement in this essentia) adjunct to town and country life, while the dairy products, root and other crops are always well represented. It is one of the occasions when universal interest is created in the good work of the society, which has, on its, merits, become a great asset to the district, hence the presence of the public during the four days on which the show lasts is of the utmost service, and as there are many exhibits that must prove attractive to most people, a pleasant and profitable time may be spent in viewing the exhibits, in which home industries form a special feature. Profiting by experience, the officials of the Association endeavor to make the show a memorable event. I Needless to say that the public recognise ■ this fact, and the more they testify to the popularity of the fixture by their presence, the greater is the stimulus to the Association to still further strive to foster the best interests of the country producers, on the success of whose labors the towns depend. Such shows ■ cannot be too strongly commended to public patronage.
