TARANAKI EGG CIRCLE.
THE ANNUAL MEETING, The annual meeting of the Taranaki Co-operative Egg Society, Ltd., was held at the Soldiers’ Club, New Plymouth, on Thursday evening, Mr. J. N. Eva presiding over a fair attendance of members. The report, as already published, was read, and Mr. A. P. Lister, in moving its adoption, congratulated the society on the success of the year’s operations. Messrs. J. K. Hawkins, G. M. Hamilton, F. Hatcher,, were elected to fill the three vacancies on the committee. During a general discussion the chairman referred to the clause which stated: “At present some members find it costly and inconvenient to deliver their eggs to the depot, and to obviate this trouble, arrangements have been made whereby members living in the borough will have their eggs called for periodically.’’ Mr. Eva said this would be a great convenience to members and should also be the means of inducing many other poul-try-keepers to join the society. The society would not be able to commence the collection of eggs immediately, but the scheme would be in full working order in time to deal with the flush of the season’s eggs. General regret was expressed at the resignation of Mr. W. Scott, who has been prominently identified with the society since its inception, and who for the past eight years had occupied the position of chairman of the committee. It was decided to place on record the society’s appreciation of Mr. Scotts valued services.
