WAR MEMORIAL. a Meeting of the General Committee, held on Thursday, Ist inst., the following resolution was passed: — “That in order to ascertain more fully the opinion of the Ratepayers on the proposal to remove the restriction on the title to the land on which it is proposed to erect the Cenotaph, further public meetings be held, and, further, that petitions be circulated for signature amongst ratepayers.” And in connection with above, a public meeting will be held in the Empire Theatre at 8 p.m. on MONDAY, sth instant. A large attendance of the General Public at this meeting is absolutely essential, as the Committee feels the Council will not take any further action unless evidence is given them that the Committee’s suggested site has the strong endorsement of public opinion. Our duty, as citizens, to those who have made the Supreme Sacrifice should make it incumbent on all to take this opportunity of recording their views for or against the proposals. His Worship the Mayor will preside. CHAS. H. BURGESS, Chairman of Committee. CHURCH OF ENGLAND. /K MEETING of those interested in the work of the Church of England in Toko and surrounding districts will be held in the CORONATION HALL, TOKO, on MONDAY NEXT, stb instant, at 8 p.m. Business: To consider ways and means of obtaining the services of a curate for the Stratford Parochial District. NOW WE EXPLAIN mysterious car which we have been advertising has made everyone wonder what it is. We, ourselves, were never more keen and enthusiastic and surprised at the absolutely complete transformation of this car, which is the first production of a re-organised and re-capitalised factory, with the foremost designing engineers in America behind tl|e production. We approached the new ear with considerable prejudice and hesitation, but in spite of ourselves we were quickly convinced of its great superiority over all others in this class, when we had thoroughly inspected and tested the car, and now we wish the public to know that this car is the NEW MAXWELL, and its price, complete, with 5-cord 31 x 4 tyres and wire wheels, leather upholstery. beautiful hood, door opening side curtains, ample radiator and smooth, flexible, powerful and vibrationless engine, Zenith Carburettor, Bosch Magneto, spiral bevel, rear axle, and every up-to-date refinement and improvement, is well within reach of all competitors, under £5OO. ■Seeing is believing.
