AUCKLAND TRAINING NOTES. Auckland, May 31. The weather was dull and threatening for training operations this morning, and the work on the whole consisted of steady pacing. Tenterfield, at a strong pace, did two circuits of No. 3 grass track, spurting home after doing.four furlongs in 54sec. • Hyttus ran six furlongs on the same track in Imin. 22 3-ssec. Fisher did four furlongs in 55 l-ssec. Tinohoro ran six furlongs in Imbi. 20 l-ssec. Lochella jumped two brush huldles and walked away sound. Despite satisfactory gallops, Pondoland has not regained the position of favorite for the Derby; on the contrary, his price has eased. Captain Cuttie was rushed into the market when it was announced that Donoghue was chosen to ride him, and closely presses Pondoland. The weather prospects are favorable. Pondoland’s hock has filled again and the swelling seemed to lessen under treatment, but after arrival at Epsom on Tuesday a boil developed on the other hind leg.
