HOCKEY.
HAWERA DEFEATS STRATFORD. The Hawera hockey team met Stratford, at Stratford yesterday, and gained a victory by 4 goals to 1. The Hawera. pack proved too strong for Stratford, keeping play for the greater part of the game near Stratford’s goal. Towards t£e end of the match, however, Stratford livened up considerably and had Hawera defending. Two goals were shot by Hawera before the change over and two in the latter half. When Stratford attacked Lowry had a shot at goal and narrowly missed. A moment later, after a good run by Sharrock, Lowry took another pass and neatly goaled. Sharrock was always on the ball on Stratford's end, Wilson also putting in some good rushes. Curtis was strong in defence.
