LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
DOMINION SOCIETIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, May 30. A conference of delegates from various branches of Dominion societies formed in the interests of the League of Nations Union met here to-day. The /branches represented were Auckland, Gisborne, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Oaniaru. Apologies were received from Napier, Havelock North and Rotorua. One aim of the conference is to focus the active support of all sections of public opinion, both inside and outside the organised political parties, in support of the ideas which the League represents. The Mayor, Mr. Wright, M.P., welcomed trie delegates. Professor W. Henderson Pringle (Otago University) moved that a Dominion League of Nations of New Zealand be now formed to federate all the branches that had been formed or might be formed in the Dominion. MS as Melville (Auckland) seconded the motion, which was carried, and a committee was appointed to draft* the constitution. Wellington, Last Night. The League of Nations Conference appointed a committee representative of all parts of the Dominion, with an executive containing corresponding members at Dunedin, Auckland and Christchurch. It was agreed to appoint the Dunedin branch as an executive on policy. A resolution was passed asking the New Zealand Government to make a declaration co-operating with the Imperial Government in making the League of Nations the keystone of the foreign policy of the British Empire.
