INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The euchre party and danee, in aid of the Soldiers’ Memorial Fund, held in the Town Hall on Thursday nitrht. was *well patronised, and although the exceptionally bad weath&r that prevailed that night prevented quite so great a success being scored as at the first of these gatherings, nevertheless the young people, promoters of the gatherings, are. it is said, intending to continue them monthly through the winter. If they do their efforts entitle them to the thanks of the community and to a very liberal share of patronage by all lovers of such social gatherings. On Thursday the euchre players, under the control of Mrs. Evans, filled ten tables, when, owing to the shortage of men players, ladies adopted their role, and curiously enough all the prizes, ladies’ and gentlemen’s, were won by members of the gentler sex. The ladies prizes were won by Mesdames Cottier and McGonagle, the gentlemen’s by Mesdames F. Julian and E. George. The dancing division was in good strength. Mr. C. E. Hodran efficiently filled the part of M.G.. excellent music was provided by Miss E. Rogers (cornet) and K. Lawson (piano), and the floor was in splendid condition. The promoters deserve congratulation for the results obtained and the good opinion expressed on all sides regarding the arrangements made, not forgetting the supper, provided by Messrs. Lealand. which was specially appreciated.
