A SURPRISE PRESENTATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) May 29. The Eltham Highland Pipe Band sprung a surprise on Mr. W. J. Tristram on Saturday evening, when they assembled at his office and made him a presentation. Mt. J. L. He said that Mr. Tristram had been the founder of the band, had supplied hall accommodation and light, and in addition to heavy donations, had always placed his car at the band’s disposal. In presenting him with a pair of field glasses, Mr. Campbell said that the band were giving nun something useful and something that he could carry with him wherever he went. Mr. Trist-ram, in reply, stated that this had come as one of the surprises of his life. He appreciated and thanked the band for its handsome present, and hoped that he would be able to continue any service within his power to further the band’s interests* and welfare.
