THE MISSING BARQUE.
WRECKAGE COMING ASHORE. SUNKEN MAST STRUCK. By Telecraph.—Press Assn.—Copyritht. Received May 29, 10.5 p.m. Sydney, May 29. Air. Aird, assistant lighthouse-keepei at South Head, whose son is on board the Manurewa, has offered a substantial sum towards coaling a vessel to search Middleton reef. It is understood the Navy Department has been in communication with the New Zealand Government relative to a search now that wreckage is coming to light almost daily. The Sydney agents are in an unfortunate position, as they find it difficult to make positive identification, they not being familiar with the Manurewa, which has traded so Iqng between Auckland and San Francisco that details of her are forgotten by them. A message from Brisbane says tha steamer Levuka, from Sydney, reported that she struck a submerged mast half a mile off Solitary Island in over fifty feet of water. It is believed it belongs to the Manurewa. The Levuka was not damaged.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
