BOXING.
INCIDENT AT WANGANUI. REFEREE DECLARES “NO FIGHT.” By Telegraph.—Press Assnc.'atlon. Wanganui, Last Night. An unlooked-for incident occurred during a boxing tournament on Saturday night. Lin Robinson and Bert Facoorey were to fight for a stake of £lOO. Mr. Tim Tracey, the referee, after the third round, announced: “I’ve refereed for both these men, and I don’t think they are fighting dinkum.” Robinson made a protest, but boxed on. In the fifth round, however, Tracey declared no fight. Both boxers were very Indignant. Mr. Tracey was loudly applauded, though there was considerable dissent, and the audience did not disperse for several minutes. Robinson stated later that he had never fought Facoorey before and was trying to understand him and take his measure.

After the worst contest witnessed for some time, Stone (9 st. 11 lb) defeated Hunefield (the same weight) on points in a 20-rounds match. Received May 28, 5..5 p.m. Sydney, May 27. At the Stadium, Charley Ring (10 st. 9 lb) defeated Frank Griffin (10 sc 11 lb) in 12 rounds, the latter skying the towel. Ring wore the New Zealander down xtfith lefts to the face, severely punishing him, and had him staggering when the towel was thrown in. The contest was very willing, but the fighting was mostly of a wild order. GODDARD BEATS WELLS. Received May 28, 11.5 p.m. London, May 27.
