Notts, after making 421 for seven wickets in the first innings, declared. Warwick responded with 199 and 274. Notts secured the necessary fifty-three runs with the loss of one wicket. In. Notts’ first innings John Gunn made 150 and Carr HO. Essex (434 and 198) drew with Middlesex (260 and 259 for eight wiekets). The game became most exciting at lunch time, when Essex had 250 on with five wickets to spare. On. resuming Hearne took four wiekets for eeven, three of them in four balls. Middlesex, in a fine sporting effort to win, made 281 in 145 minutes, making 127 in the first hour. Yorkshire (27'6 and 55 for one wicket), beat Cambridge (258 and 72). i Lancashire, with 437 for four wickets ( Makepeace e 169 and John Tyldee- ' ley 112) declared. Leicester made 107' and 436 (Coe 117). Lancashire, in their, second innings, made 167 for six wickets (Makepeace 169 and John Tyidestime, thanks to Hallows and Parkin hitting off 44 in the last twenty mins utes. Loudon made 27. Surrey made 293 (Hobbs 139) against Gloucester. Essex compiled 351 (Freeman 1415' against Derbyshire. Notts made 341 for five wickets (Hardstaff 107 not out) against Sussex, —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
