An Italo-Jugo-iSlav frontier collision near Castua, where bayonets were used, is reported from Belgrade. -Five Italians were killed and several wounded. The Jugo-Slavs allege that the Italians crossed the frontier and attacked them. REDUCING RAILWAY (RATES. Washington, May 25. The United States Government estimates that freight reductions on the railways will lower the cost of living a billion dollars a year or ten dollars per capita.

The United States has advised the Canadian Government that it is ready to negotiate for an immediate treaty providing for the deepening of the St Lawrence River to enable ocean ships to reach the great lakes. CONVICTED BANK DIRECTOR. London, May 25. Polled on the life of Thomas Farrow, at present in gaol, have been auctioned. One for £llO,OOO with a surrender value of £13,950 fetched £15,500. A second policy, for £lO,OOO, with a surrender value of £1395, sold for £2250. ARMSTRONG MURDER CASE. London, May 25. The Attorney-General refused to allow Armstrong to appeal to the House of Lords. His execution has been tentatively fixed for Wednesday. ALLIANCE IN THE BALKANS. Paris, May 25. The Matin’s Belgrade correspondent states that the Premiers of Roumania, Czecho-Slovakia and Jugo-Slavia will on the occasion of King Alexander’s marriage sign a general alliance for twenty years. GERMAN! SHIPS TN COLLISION. Berlin, May 25. During manoeuvres a collision occurred near Sassnitz between the warship Hanover and the new torpedo boat SIS. Ten of the crew of the latter were killed.
