Sir Joseph Cook publishes a letter in the Pall Maili Gazette contradicting General Smuts’ Budget statement that Australian industries are falling to pieces owing to the high tariff. He writes: “This is ludicrously inaccurate and absurd. The Australian manufacturing industries were never in such a flourishing condition.”—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
