Humby, Mayor of Salisbury, playing with other councillors in a friendly game, collapsed and died in five minutes. PRAISE FOR MR. SASTRI. London, May 23. Sir Valentine Chirol, speaking at a meeting of the East India Association, described Mr. Sastri as probably one of the most remarkable Hindus, certainly one of the most respected. Mr. Sastri at the London, Geneva and Washington Conferences displayed a dignity of bearing, a mastery of the English language,, rare eloquence and elevation of thought which, combined with modesty and selfrestraint, showed what India at its best was producing. NEW HEBRIDES CONDOMINIUM. Melbourne, May 24. The Rev. John McKenzie, chairman' of tne public questions committee of the Presbyterian State Assembly of Victoria and Tasmania, said the situation in the New Hebrides was going from bad to worse. He urged the church again to protest against the condominium and the continuance of conditions which were dishonouring to the flag aud a reproach to the Christianity of the nation.
