THE EMPIRE’S TASKS.
MUST NOT LOSE ITS VICTORY. MR. CHURCHILL’S MESSAGE. By Telegraph.—Press Aoan.—Copyright. Received May 24, 9.5 p.m. London, May 23. The Empire Mail publishes Empire Day messages from notable personagee. Mr. Winston Churchill (Secretary for the Colonies) says: “The Empire is passing through a period requiring firmness, coolness and patience. We must not allow the exhaustion and restlessness of the aftermath of war to deprive us of the solid and enduring gains of victory, and still less must we allow weak and subversive elements to squander and undo the work of the brave, the strong and the true, and so make their sacrifices unavailing. Peopling the Dominions and developing their unique and measurelees resources will enable us to render further service to mankind.” —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
