A COUNTY RECORD.
CHAIRMAN’S LONG TERM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. Mr. C. N. Orbell was to-day reelected chairman of the Levels County Council. He has been chairman ever since the county was instituted in 1896. The council decided to raise a loan of fifteen years currency to pay off its antecedent liability of £2400, as being easier for ratepayers than paying by instalments out of rates. Strong complaint was made of the destruction of roads by heavy and fast travelling motor lorries and traction engines, which were travelling faster than in pre-war times.
