INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Considerable local interest was taken in a billiard match played on Saturday when Mr. W. Abotomey, New South Wales professional billiard champion, conceded 200 to the well-known local amateur, F. Julian, in a game of 600 up. The contest was an interesting one throughout, and. was keenly watched. The game from start to finish was an attractive exhibition of all round open billiards. Skill and good judgment were shown by both, and were greeted with appreciative applause. Though no very sensational single score was recorded, breaks of from 20 up to 74 were marked. Abotomey’s highest was 74 and Julian’s 64. Finally Julian reached the limit (600) when his opponent’s score stood at 488. Their average breaks were Julian 18 and A.botomey 19. Both players were heartily congratulated on the fine exhibition they had given. Following is the result of the draw for the first round at the opening night of the Inglewood United Cribbage Club’s season:—Monday, the 29th inst.—Raima ta v. .Druids, Bacon Factory v. Bowlers, Lincoln Road v. Fire Brigade, Egmont Village v. Kaimiro, Foresters a bye. Play takes place in the Inglewood Druids’ Hall. The euchre party and dance; advertised to be held in the Town Hall tomorrow (Thursday) night, gives every promise of being an even more pronounced success than its predecessor in aid of the same object, the soldiers’ memorial fund. Every care is being taken to make all ready for the guests of the evening, and to ensure that their comfort and enjoyment are thoroughly catered for no stone has been left unturned.
