Replying 'to a question in the House of Commons, Mr. Chamberlain referred to a statement reported to have been made by M. Tchitcherin at Genoa, warning Japan that any attack by the latter on the Far Eastern Republic would automatically result in war with Russia. He said the British Government would not make friendly representations to Japan to evacuate Russian territory without delay, as it relied on the fulfilment of the Japanese Government’s undertakings.—Aus.-N.Z.
