AUCKLAND SCRATCHINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Afay 23. Gamecock and Chignot have been scratched for all engagements at the A.R.C. meeting. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. NINTH STAKES. The Taranaki Jockey Club has issued the conditions for the Ninth Taranaki Stakes, to be decided at its autumn meeting in February, 1923. The distance is six furlongs, and the value of the race is 590 sovs., second horse to receive 100 sovs. and the third horse 50 sovs. out of the stakes. The committee has slightly altered the conditions, and now that the event is confined to norses two, three, four and five years old at the time of starting there should be a good field and an interesting race instead of the disappointing experience of the last two or three medtjngs. It is a weight-for-age event with penalties and allowances. Winners after august 1, 1922, of any race or races of the collective value of 500 sovs. have to carry 31bs. extra, of 750 sovs. sTbs., of 1000 sovs. lOlbs., of 1500 sovs. 141bs. Maiden four op five-year-olds at the time of starting will/ be allowed lOlbs., three-year-olds 71bs.» and two-year-olds slhs. Entries close with the secretary, Air. E. P. Webster, at New Plymouth, on Friday, June 9, at 9 p.m.
