MASONIC INSTALLATION.

MOUNT EGMONT LODGE. There was a large gathering of Freemasons at the Masonic Hall, Robe Street, on Thursday night, on the occasion of the installation of Bro. Edgar Hobson Carter as Wnr.obinful Master of the Mount Egmont Lodge No. 670, E>. lish Constitution, which was established in 1853. The gathering was a very re; presentative one. The Grand Lodge of Ireland was represented by Right Wor. Bro. A. Goldwater: the Grand Lodge of New Zealand by the Right Wor. Bro. W. N. Ewing; Grand Lodge of England by Wor. Bro. H. J. M. Wells. The Ngamotu, De Burgh Adams and Sir Donald M'Lean Lodges were also well represented, and members were present from all the other lodges in Taranaki as well as other provincial lodges.

Wor. Bro. A G. Mason, W.M., occupied the chair and received the visitors. The beautiful ceremony was ably performed by Wor. Bro. W. M. Perry, of Remuera, who installed Bro. Carter, the Worshipful Master Elect, into the Chair of King Solomon, with all the dignity of ancient custom. Wor. Bro. Roy L. Parkin acted as master of ceremonies, whilst the musical portion of the ceremony was in the hands of Bro. F. R. P. Fredric (pianist) and Bro. Robert Taylor, trumpeter. The Worshipful Master invested his officers for the ensuing year as follows: Im. Past Master, Wor. Bro. A. G. Mason; Senior Warden, Bro. E. Turner; Junior Warden, Bro. W. Jones; treasurer, Wor. Bro. Edwin Chatterton, P.D.G.J.W.; secretary, Wor. Bro. Fred C. J. Bellringer; Director of Ceremonies, Wor. Bro. Roy L. Parkin, D.G.S.G.; Chaplain, Rev. Bro. J. F. Martin; Senior Deacon, Bro. C. F. A. Waters; Junior Deacon, Bro. M. J. Armstrong; organist, Bro. F. R. P. Fredrie; Inner Guard, Bro. J. T. Ranger; stewards. Bros. A. W. Morrison, A. B. Gib son, J. Buttimore, J. B. P. Bellringer; Tyler, Bro. A. Cave. At the conclusion of the ceremony an adjournment was made to the refectory, after full justice had been done to the good things, a toast list interspersed with musical items was honored.
