THE BONUS CUT.
COMING INTO LINE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, May 17. The master butchers have decided to observe the Court’s general orders regarding wogea and to see that the amount of the wage reduction is reflected in the retail prices. The New Zealand Motor Trades Association has decided to give effect to the Court’s pronouncement and that the wages of all other employees not governed by the awards be reduced by 5 per cent. It was further decided that there shall be a corresponding reduction in charges. BAKERS KEEP UP PRICES. Wellington, May W. The Wellington Master' Bakers and Pastrycooks’ Union of Employers announce that as it is absolutely impracticable to pass on the present 5s cut in wages and as the provisions of a new award are to be considered by the Court next month, no reduction will be made at present in the price of bread or wages. It is hoped this may be possible after the new award is made. Inquiries in other directions give few signs of definite reductions in prices.
