HAVELOCK NORTH SCHEME. / By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. The formal opening of the Havelock North hydro-electric power scheme of 250 horse-power, from the Maraetotara Stream, for local supplies, took place this afternoon in the presence of representatives of Napier, Hastings, Waipukurau and Hawke’s Bay local bodies. Several speakers stressed the delay of the Government regarding pushing on with Waikaremoana, and urged pressure on the Government, or other bodies would follow the lead of Havelock North and take the matter in their own hands.
