MAORIS AND THE LEAGUE. NOT GOING OVER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A telegram was received by Mr. G. W. Slade, chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, today from Mr. Parata, who is organising the Maori Rugby team in the Bay of Plenty district. Mr. Parata states that he has been over the ground previously covered by the League organiser and finds that no prominent Maori players have gone over to the Northern Union game. The League there is not meeting with much success. N CAERE BEAT CARDIFF. Ngaere first juniors beat Cardiff first juniors at Ngaere yesterdaj’ by 15 to 8. In order to enable enthusiasts to view both senior games In New Plymouth on Saturday. it has been decided to play the StarLeppcrton match at Western Park at 1.15 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. Spectators will therefore be able to view this match and then proceed to the Recreation Sports Ground, where Hawera and Tukapa, who have so far been unbeaten this season, will meet, the match commencing at 3 p.m.
