TARANAKI ASSnrrATTAN, .. ■ MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE, A ttneeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (in the chair), Stephenson, Stagpoole, Grainger, Baker, Richards, Whitaker, R. Paul, W. Graham, J. Garcia, N. B. Howell, and C. H. Wynyard (secretary). The chairman introduced the new secretary to the members of the committee, stating that te considered the association fortunate' in having his services. Mr. Wynyard briefly returned thanks. Tlie matching committee reported that arrangements had been made for a match’ Between McAsey and Richardson on Thursday, June 15, for a purse of £5O, and with Whitaker and J. Heeney to fight on Saturday, June 17, for a purse of £lOO, and expenses of £l5 each. The report of tte matching committee was approved. A number of applications from leading professional boxers were received asking to be matched at the forthcoming tournament. Notification was received that entries for the North Island championships, to be held by the Manawatu Association at Palmerston North on June 22 and 23, would close on June 12. Mr. R. Paul was elected convener of the house committee. It was resolved that the purses be divided on the basis of 70 per cent, to the winner and 30 per cent, to the loser, and that the competitors must be in the district three days before the date fixed for the tournament. It was resolved to call for nominations from senior cadets and territorials, and also from open amateurs in both sections, the classes to comprise feather, bantam, light, welter, middle and heavy. Entries will close on June It was resolved to forward a letter of appreciation to the Eltlam Association for the courtesy extended to visiting members, who spoke in high terms of the excellent management. Messrs. W. Graham, R. Barlow, J. Garcia and R. Paul were appointed an entertainment committee. » Officials for the tournament were appointed as follows: Announcer, Mr. E. Jackson; timekeepers, Messrs. J Bennett and V. Dalgleish; call stewards, Mbssrs. N. B. Howell, C. 1 Grainger; weight stewards, Messrs. G. E. Jago and W. N. Stephenson; steward, Mr. W. Graham; ring steward, Mr. R. Inch; glove steward, Mr. W. Richards; official seconds, Messrs. W. Whitaker, A. Baker, W. Richards and F. J. Eggleton; house manager, Mr. W. N. Stephenson. It was decided that the prices of admission at the forthcoming tournament should be for the first night 10s (ringside), 5s and 3s; and for the second night £1 Is (ringside), 10s, 5s and 3s, plus tax in all cases.
