.REPORT OF COMMITTEE. The Carnegie Institute Committee reported to last night’s meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council that at a meeting held on 11th instant Mr. W. H. Skinenr had been elected chairman for the ensuing year. It had been decided that the plate-glass in the museum cases be insured; that Messrs. Purser’s, Ltd., tender of £lOO 13s for four showcases for the museum be accepted; that recent donors of gifts be thanked; that the matter of further shelving accommodation to the library be dealt with bv Messrs. Dolby, Moyes, and the librarian: and that Mr. R. A. Large’s offer to distribute Home papers to men on overseas boats be gratefully accepted. The librarian reported: For the three weeks ended 11th instant. 23 new sub. scribers have joined and 15 left—a net gain of eight. New books to the number of Id have been added. Owing to no new ones coming forward for several weeks, it will be difficult to obtain anything fresh.— Adopted. ' Councillor Brown moved that Misses Warren and Clarke and Mr. L. Etherington be appointed as the conned s representatives on the library committee. This was carried. A letter “5 will be forwarded to Mr. C. E.
