THE CUSTOMS REVENUE SURPLUS. TO BE USED THIS YEAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Referring to the public accounts, the Prime Minister stated to-day, in reply to certain criticisms, that the £2.490,000 excess Customs revenue collected in the financial year 1920-21 as the result of overimportation of goods into the Dominion, was reserved from March 31, 1921, for the purpose of supplementing the revenue of the year which has just closed. The amount is held in cash and liquid securities, and is available for the requirements of the current year. Mr. Massey stated that the criticisms he had seen were reasonable, and, on the whole, favorable.
