THE RUGBY GAME, RUGBY UNION SELECTORS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 11. The New Zealand Rugby Union has reinstated Douglas, the Otago player, who was suspended in 1915. June 24 was set apart for Charity Day matches. Two selectors, one from each island, were appointed as a selection committee for the New Zealand team to tour New South Wales. The match North v. South Island will be played at Wellington, and Auckland will be given the match against the New Zealand team before sailing. Messrs. Humphreys (Taranaki), Nicholson (Auckland), and Griffiths (Wellington) were appointed selectors for the North Island; Drake (Canterbury), and Stuart (Otago) for the South Island, with, another nominated by the minor unions. It was resolved to ask Auckland for an assurance that they will play only the) rules and modifications authorised by tne taigasn Union.
An application from the Otago Union for a loan of £l5OO was deferred for further particulars. ,
CENTRAL DIVISION. FIRST JUNIORS. Stratford first juniors beat Ngaere at Ngaere yesterday by 8 to nil. The score consisted of two tries with one converted. Cardiff beat Tariki, at Tariki. by 20 to nil. Inglewood defeated Toko, at Inglewood, by 8 to 3. FOURTH GRADE. The match set down for Stratford v. THE LEAGUE GAME. TOUR OF MAORI TEAM. By Telegraph.—Press-Association. Auckland, May 11. At the New Zealand Rugby League meeting it was stated that the League was sending a Maori team of 26 players to Australia, and the members of the team would assemble at Auckland almost imfiiediately. Their intention was to leave New Zealand not later than May 22. It was also announced that a League team of University players from Australia would tour New Zealand, starting early next month. It is expected games in Auckland will be played on June 24 and 26.
