HOCKEY CLUB MEETING. The annual meeting of the Stratford Hockey dub was held last night. Present: Messrs. P. Thomson (chairman), Robinson, S. Robinson, A. G. Lowry, Dodd, Alger, Berg, Betts, and Beere. The annual report stated tlhat the past season had not proved a very successful one. The club secured only one win in the shield competitions during the season, although many of the games were closely contested. The importance of members getting as much practice as possible on off-days was stressed. Financially the season had been very bad, and had it not been for the generosity of the officers, the club would have been in more serious difficulties, as only four members paid their subscriptions. It was impossible to run a chib without freedom from financial worries. The rule of the Taranaki Hockey Association with regard to players not being allowed to take part in the shield fixtures unless financial, should be strictly enforced during the coming season. The matter of encouraging junior players should not be overlooked, as the juniors of to-day would be the seniors of to-morrow. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Mr. R. Masters, M.P.; president, Mr. P. Thomson; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. G. Grubb, R. B. Anderson, A. H. Hillock, J. C. Allen, F. D. Gaffaney, E. Carryer, A. A. Thompson, Revs. L. B. Neale and J. W. McKenzie; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. G. Lowry; delegate to the Taranaki Association, Mr. S. Robinson; committee, Messrs. W. A. Betts, 8. Robinson, and H. Masters; grounds committee, the captain and secretary; selection committee, the captain. The annual subscription was fixed at ss. The secretary has been informed that the club has been included in the shield competitions.

Mowlem, S.M., when adjudicating upon a case in which an elderly man was charged with hoarding a train at Te Wera whilst it was in motion.
