YORK ROAD SPORTS. A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The York Road sports were held yesterday on Mr. J. Habowski’s grounds, when, owing to the postponement from Saturday last, the attendance was small. The gathering, however, was highly successful. Mr. A. W. King, the secretary, with his energetic committee, had everything in order. The refreshments were provided by a committee of ladies, while Mrs. C. Volski and Miss E. Hayes had charge of the soft drinks and fruit stall. Mr. R. Masters sent an apology for non-attendance, owing to a previous engagement. Following are the results: 12-inch Maiden Chop.—R. L. Aylward 1, M. Dodunski 2. Six competitors. 100 Yards Handicap.—T. K. Worthington 1, W. Wheller 2, D. Tempero 3. 12-inch Open Chop.—M. Dodunski 1, J. Potroz 2. Eight competitors. 220 Yards Handieap.—T. K. Worthington 1, S. Julian 2. Seven competitors. 15-inch Double-hand Sawing Competition.— Volsky Bros. 1, Potroz Bros. 2. Six competitors. Single Ladies’ Race.—F. Newstroski 1, E. Hayes 2. 440 Yards Handicap.—T. E. Taylor 1, S. Julian 2. Six competitors. Double-hand Sawing; two cuts.—Volsky Bros. 1, Potroz Bros. 2. Married Ladies’ Race. —Mrs. S. Crombie 1, Mrs. F. Dombroski 2. 15-inch Handieap Chop.—C. Volsky 1, M. Dodunski 2. 12-inch Novel Chop.—A. Volsky 1, N. Doclunski 2. The ladies’ nail-driving was won by Miss V. Steiller. The chopping and sawing events created keen interest, and all the finishes were very close. A dance was held in the evening in the school.
