CLAIM AGAINST HARBOUR BOARD. Wellington, May 5. The judgment of the Court of Appeal in the Gisborne Harbour Board v. J. H. Lysnar (April 27) was in favour of ap-. pellant on the ground that the Harbours Act made the calling of tenders in such a case mandatory, each -party to pay their own costs. Tn a further action brought by the Harbour Board, Mr. Lysnar was allowed £2fo costs. He was given leave to apepal to the Privy Council. The security was fixed at £5OO. FREEZING WORKERS’ WAGES. Hastings May f>. The freezing workers affirmed last evening a motion carried at Wellington, that the executive refuse any further reduction in wages, and that should any companies appeal to the court workers are to cease work. MANGAHAO POWER SCHEME. Wellington. May 5. The Wellington City Council has presently to make an important decision regarding the voltage of the electric current from Mangahao. Two courses are open, to transform the current to the existing voltage of 110 or to adopt the system to the new standard voltage of *250, in which case existing wiring, bulbs, irons, radiators, and motors will have to be scrapped. An expert report on the subject is now being considered.
