THE BOOL PROPOSAL. WAIRARAPA APPROVAL. By telegraph.—l’resa Association. Carterton, May 5. A very large and representative meeting of the Wairarapa cheese factories was held at Carterton to consider a proposal to establish a dairy pool on the lines of the meat pool, but mn by the dairy people entirely. Addresses were given by Messrs. A. Morton (chairman of the National Dairy Association), T. C. Brash (secretary of the New Zealand Association), Goodfellow (managing director of the ifew Zealand Co-operative Dairy Association). All fully outlined the conditions of the market of produce at present in vogue and. advocated the formation of a pool. Such, a step would save at least £60,*000 per annum at present paid to operators on the market in London.

Numerous questions were asked and answered. Mr. Morton (chairman) announced that the object of the meeting was to obtain the support of the Wairarapa factories and to get delegates appointed to attend a conference at Wellington. The following resolution was carried unanimously: That this meeting approves of the proposal as outlined in circular 54, April 19, issued by the National Dairy Association as to the formation of a compulsory dairy pool, subject to any necessary alterations. The following delegates were appointed: Messrs. H. C. Cook (Greytown), J. C. Ewington (Masterton), W. loms (Martinborough), D. Anderson (Carrington), R. Basset (Dalefield), S. H. Smith (Rongokokaka).
