MEETING OF THE M.C.C. EIGHT-BALL OVER QUESTION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, May 3. The Marylebone Club meeting approved of the eight-ball over in British matches in Australia. Received May 4, 7.15 p.m. London, May 3. A special general meeting of the Marylebone Cricket Club only approved of tbe eight-ball over in Australian matches after a long discussion, the principal critic being Fender. The meeting also decided that in the eveizt of rain falling prior to the commencement of the day’s play the groundsman shall cause the wicket to be swept and rolled for ten minutes; also after the close of play, or at any time before tbe next commencement, whenever he is of opinion that such roiling will improve the wicket, the groundsman only to use the roller after consultation with the captains. New rules permit a team leading by 200 runs the option of compelling their opponents to follow on. Lord Chelmsford was elected president in succession to Mr. Jack-son.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
