The Chalmers fund, subscribed for the hero of the Coogee shark tragedy, has allocated £250 for a motor truck for Chalmers, and also invested £ 1250 for his family. On the suggestion of Chalmers, £5OO was awarded to Beaurepaire, for assisting in the rescue. CANBERRA STRIKE. Sydney, May 2. Air. Hughes ’ agreed, on the request of a deputation, that the strikers at Canberra should return to work on the conditions ruling prior to Easter and the rates and hours be referred to a tribunal for a decision, which will be accepted by either party.
