WIVES WON’T LET THEM.
GERMANS FOR AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Asst..—Copyright. Received May 2, 7.15 p.m. London, May 1. A piquant sequel to Mr. Hughes’ recent refusal to allow German engineers to land at Melbourne, for the purpose of erecting the Morwell Briquetting Company’s plant, is that, permission being subsequently granted, the Germans now refuse to go, declaring that their wives will not let them, fearing they will receive a hostile reception in Australia. —United Service.
