New Zealand hemp.—April-June shipment, £3l 10s per ton. Jute.—Native first marks, April-Maj’ shipment*. £29 ss. Copra.—The market is irregular. South Sea bagged, April-June shipment, £23 10s per ton. Linseed Oil.— £42 5s per ton, equal to 3s 5d per gallon Turpentine, 84s 6d per cwt., edual to 6s 4%d per gallon. Wheat cargoes are meeting with little inquiry ; two thousand tons of a part steamer shipment on passage to Swansea sold at 57s 6d a quarter. Loudon, April 28. Buyers are returning a large quantity of the Armagh's apples, apparently frozen. They looked good when discharged, but turned brown after exposure to the air. The consignees are claiming on the shipowners. There is a good market for apples in Manchester.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. London, April 29. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company declares no interim dividend on its ordinary stock, owing to the eontinuaiice of unfavorable business conditions in New Zealand. REDUCTIONS IN FREIGHTS. Sydney, May 1. Reductions are announced in the overseas freights on sheepskins and by-products of tallow. The reduction is from Is 0 5-8 d to l%d per lb. from Australia to France. The reduction on stearine and olive oil is from 150 s to 130 s a ton. The freight of tin clippings te reduced from 100 s to 75s per ton. NEWTON KING, LTD. REPORTS. At Douglas on April 24 there was a full penning of both sheep and’ cattle, and we report an hmproved sale for all classes, there being exceptional activity in the sheep section. Almost a complete clearance was effected. Lambs made 10s 7d, 13s 2d, 14s, cull do. 4s, mixed aged wethers 20s lOd, 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes 17s sd, 18s 6d, 19s 2d, fullmouth do. 10s 6d, 13s 6d, store cows 255, 365, forward conditioned do. £2 7s, 18-month steers 35a, 2%-year do. £2 Is, £2 18s, 3%-year-old bullocks £3 7s 6d, £4 12s, weaner heifers 275, £2 12s, empty heifers £2 18s 6d, In-calf do, £3 15s, £4 17s 6d, choicer quality do. £6, £6 ss, springing heifers £8 10s. At Stony River on the same day a moderate yarding was greeted with an improved tone and little was passed. Small store pigs 10s, baconers £2 2s 6d, weaner heifers 22s 6d, in-calf heifers £4 Mis, £6, 18-month steers 31s, fat cows £5, store do. 20s, 255, springing cows £5, £7 10s, cows at profit £«. At. Kohuratahi on the 26th inst. sheep made up the bulk of the yarding, and sold under very spirited coni*petit.ion, etery pen selling. Two and 4-tooth ewes 10s Id, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 18a 6d, 20s 2d, mixed aged ewes 15s lid, lambs 15s 3d, 15s 9d, inferior do. Bs, 10s, 2%-year-old steers £2 Bs, £2 15s. At W-aiwakaiho on the following day a decidedly improved sale resulted in the . complete clearance of a very good yarding. LONDON MARKETS. GOOD DEMAND FOR BUTTER. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the foilowing cablegram from their London house under date April 28: — Butter.—New Zealand: 180 s to 188 s per cwt. Best North Island Lambs.—Up to 361 b., 11 5-8 d per lb.; 361 b. to 421 b., 11 3-8 d per lb. Ordinary North Island Lambs. —Up to 361 b., 10 7-8 d; 361 b. to 421 b., 10 7-Bd.
