SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
OPUNAKE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a small attendance at the meeting of householders. Mr. T. P. Hughson, jun., presided. The balance sheet for the period ending February 28, which showed a credit balance of t£73 17s 6d, was read and adopted. Mr. W. Cron, headmaster, stated that there was a most satisfactory increase in the number of pupils. The roll number was now. 138, being an increase of 35 since the last householders’ meeting. The average attendance as from the beginning of the present school year to date was 125.4. Should this average be maintained until September 30 the school would automatically be raised to grade 4, necessitating a further classroom. A vote of thanks was accorded the outgoing committee in recognition of the good work performed during the year. The election of committeemen for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Messrs. T. P. Hughson, jun., Rev. E. S. Harkness, J. H. Windleburn, A. T. Harvey. J H. Windelburn, and T. H. H. Sinclair. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr. T. P. Hughson was re-elec-, ted chairman and Mr. T. H. H. Sinclair secretary. KAPONGA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There were so few householders at the meeting here on Monday night that a committee could not be elected. The balance sheet was received, and considered very satisfactory, showing a credit balance of £25. The following gentlemen were nominated for the committee for the following year: Messrs. J. Guy, C. S. Hill, Hislop. Harding. Kehely, Sadler, „,and Betts. Mr. C. S. Hill was elected secretary. Te Popo.—At the annual meeting of householders, fifteen were present and the following committee were elected: Messrs. M. M. Knox (chairman), J. Oldridge (secretary), S. Slater. J. Bishop, A. G. Knox. junr. The balancesheet of last year showed a credit of £lB 10e 4d, which was considered very satisfactory. v Kiore.—The following were elected to the committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs. J. Wallace (chairman), E. Johnston, J. Robson, G. E. Ireland and Mrs. Ireland.
Te Wera.—A good attendance of householders was presided over by Mr. D. Kemp. The following committee was elected: —Messrs. D. Kemp (chairman). J. Marriott, W. Reid, T. Kelly, and A. Frank (secretary).
Whangamomona.—The following committee was elected: —Messrs. M. Geever (chairman), Wesley Grant (hon. sec.), E. Jenkinson. R. Smith, and A. Dagg. Mangamingi.—Mr. L. E. Jackson occupied the chair. The report and balwere satisfactory, the latter showing a credit of over £lO. The following committee were elected for the ensuing year: —Messrs. L. E. Jackson (chairman). L. C. Barnard (secretary), A. Boddie, H. Osborn, and E. Gear.
Mangatoki. —There was only a small attendance and Mr. J. Marx presided. The following were elected:—Messrs. J. P. Marx, A. H. Guy, W. 0. Webby, E. Colson, and A. T. Sulzberger. Mr. J. P. Marx was re-elected chairman and secretary. Mata.—The following were elected: Messrs. H. A. Blackstock, Bootten, T. Lee, W. Treweek, and M. Trott. Mr. Blackstock was reflected chairman and Mr. Treweek secretary. Rawhitiroa. —The report was an excellent one and was adopted without discussion. The following were elect-ed-—Messrs. Major (chairman and secretary), W. Bootten. R. Swale, I’. Hodgson, and F. E. Silver. Pukengahu.—The following were elected: —Messrs. IX Blackstock (chairman), H. Harris, W. Wilson, E. Harper, and J.
