CEILINGS AND WALLS. Our daily papers have just published a report of the deputation of Master Painters to the Hon. Minister for Public Health. It was shown by them that the use of scrim is unsanitary, being a lianbor for vermin. This statement is undoubtedly true and the practical men whose occupation gives them the opportunity 1 ’to examine th? conditions are certainly qualified to judge. In residences and buildings in the more modern countries the use of scrim is 'being gradually eliminated; in fact in some countries it is not now known in house construction. Some years ago the need for a better material for walls and ceilings having been recognised, substitutes were manufactured and ever since then rapid, strides have been made in perfecting the idea until to-day we have a material which although light and durable, yet has the great advantages of being stronger than wood, of resist-, ing verm'in, and of being unaffected by ordinary roof leaks. The surface of this material is pebbled, thus giving a. beautiful appearance when (painted or kalaomined; .and when the house owner becomes tired of any color it an easy and inexpensive matter to change the whole appearance of a room merely by the adding of a light coat of paint or kalsomine Beautiful effects can be obtained in panelling and stencilling, whilst unlike wallpaper it is impossible to disfigure the wall by tearing. One of the many fine features of this material is that great comfort ja obtained by its rendering rooms cool in summer and warm in winter. This wonderful yet inexpensive material is manufactured in various sized sheets ranging from 6 x 3 to 1C x 4, so that it can be used entirely throughout modern residences. It is nearly twice as strong as ordinary wallboards and those who are building, making alterations or renovating, should enquire for sample and price of UPSON PROCESSED BOARD and UPSON FIBRE TILE (for bathrooms and kitchens). Booklets, samples and prices will be supplied on application to the New Plymouth Sash and Door Factory and Timber Co., Ltd., who can immediately supply requirements,
