Wheat cargoes are steady, despite weakness in America. The Claracamus shipment is quoted at ‘s7s. LONDON MARKETS. London, April 27. Butter is steady. There is a good demand for New Zealand. Choicest, 182 s, 18Gs, Australian 1725, 1745; secondary, 170 s, down to 16(fe. There is a strong demand for secondary for retail sale at Is 8d per lb. Cheese is slow. New Zealand white, 78s, 80s, colored 88s, 90s; Australian, 4s to Gs less. Further sales of the Narkunda’s apples have taken place. West Australian Cleopatras 20s, Jonathans ISs, 10s, Dunn’s 19s, Cox’s 225, 265; South Australian and Victorian Cleopaxras 19s, 20s, Jonathans 18s, 19s, Reinettea 17s. Considerable quantities are going to the Continent, especially Scandinavia. WESTFIELD MARKET. Auckland, April 27. Following is the report of the Westfield market to-day:— Beef—Fairly heavy yarding; prices on a par with last week. Choice prime ox to 1245, prime 21s to 22s fid, plain 18s to 20s; prime cow and heifer 17a to 18s; aged down to 12s 6d. Mutton.—Small yarding; prices quite 5a ahead on late rate prices; extra prime heavy wethers 32s 6d, prime 25s to 295, medium 20s to 235, light 19s; prime ewes to 24£, medium 20s to 235, light down to 19s. Veal.—A heavy yarding was offered and prices dropped considerably; bjst vealers to £2 7s, ordinary good 20s co £2, lighter 255, fresh dropped 5s to Bs. Pork. —Heavy yarding, and prices on a par with late rates; banners £3 ro £3 7s, choppers 25s to £2i 15s, porkers 35s to £2 12s.

Lamb.—Average yarding firm at late rates; best to 245, good 18s 6d to 21b, average 16s to 18s, light! 14s to IBs. THE POULTRY MARKET. Messrs. Nolan and Co. report:—Pv> lets, 6s 6d to’lls; liens, 2s 2d to 3s sd; cockerels, 2s to 2s 8d; ducks, Is 91 to 2s 3d. Messrs. Webster Bros, report: Pullets, 7s Id; hens, 2s 4d; cockerjla, 2fi Cd; ducks, 2s 7d. PRICES FOR PIGS. At Newton King, Ltd.’s, New Plymouth haymarket yesterday there was an overflow penning of pigs, but die demand was slack. Slips made from 4s fid to 7s 6d, stores to 33s fid, and a pedigree Berkshire boar sold on account of the Porirua Mental Hospital fetched 34 guineas. ANTWERP WOOL SALES. ” Received April 28, 5.5 p.m. London, April 27. At the Antwerp wool sales 22,717 bales were offered and 21.902 sold. There was a good attendance and keen competition. Combing wools were firm at full London closing rates, and clothing 10 per cent, higher. England was the chief buyer.
