POVERTY BAY STRIKE.

EMPLOYEES FINED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, April 27. Ninety-six summonses aga.vst freezing works employees of the Poverty Bay Meat -Company, in connection with the strike which occurred at the works on March 16, wore heard this morning by Mr. Barton, S.M. Twenty-three cases were struck out on the grounds that defendants did not participate in the strike. In the remainder of the cases the Ijabor Department claimed the full penalty under the Act ( £10), but did not press for it on defendants admitting the offences. Each was fined £2 and 5s costs.
