TROOPS REVOLT.
AN INCIDENT IN INDIA. TWO BRITISH UNITS. THE MEN DISMISSED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 25, 5.5 p.m. Delhi, April 24. A serious situation has arisen in the military area of Hyderabad, which is occupied by the First and Second Regiments of the Imperial Service Lancers. Apparently the men of the First Lancers had certain grievances regarding pay and allowances, and without giving the authorities time to settle the matter the men refused to don the uniform. The non-commissioned officers remained loyal. The Nizam’s infantry took over the First Lancers’ lines. The men are quite peaceful, though they declined to hand over their posts until prevailed upon by their officers. The Nizam issued a firman ordering the dismissal of all who refused duty. This was being carried out when, despite the efforts of their officers to restrain them, two hundred of the Second Lancers refused to parade. The Nizam promptly ordered the dismissal of altogether 250 of the First Lancers and over one hundred of the Second Regiment, leaving very few non-coms and men of the First Lancers. General sympathy is felt for both the officers and men, as both regiments distinguished themselves in the war, eliciting a recent tribute from the Prince of Wales.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ARMS AND AMMUNITION. SHIPPED TO INDIA. Received April 24, 5.5 p.m. Genoa, April 23. It is reported that the League of Oppressed Nations has shipped to India 100,000 Mausers and bayonets, with one hundred million rounds of ammunition.
